Bruce’s love for adventure and the outdoors really showed at the age of 13 when he taught himself white water kayaking - a sport that was unheard of back then. It was due to this outdoor pursuit, and later, still as a teenager, his stint at outward bound has contributed to who he is today.

Naturally his love for these experiences led to employment in the outdoor adventure industry.

He worked as a head instructor at an outdoor school before starting up

his own adventure and outdoor business in Taupo that he operated for 15 years. He also ran a kayak school that is responsible for setting the high standards that exist today.

Bruce noticed that most of the local schools were running kayaking at some level but none of the children carried on with the sport. Knowing that most of the clients we taught, took up kayaking as a key activity either recreationally or as a sport. So we started Kiwi Kidz Kayak courses and have had many students represent NZ in international events.

Cindy is qualified in recreation management that has seen her involved with many areas of recreation including adventure tourism and planning major recreational festivals and sports events.

A major player in co-ordinating and running the first Women’s Recreation Festival in New Zealand, Cindy has a special interest in working with women and children.

Home schooling her own children, she is able to ensure that fun and adventure is a major part of their learning, as well as playing an active role in providing outdoor recreational programmes for the home

school groups. The great outdoors is their classroom. The results have been phenomenal.

Seeing how much fun and the excitement of kayaking at any level, Cindy took to the sport like a duck to water, both competing at national and international levels and playing a key role in the instruction at a grass roots level through to guiding on many white water trips.
